I have always enjoyed writing, and I used to keep a journal, but now that I have been married for 10 years, and have two kids, I don't have the time to sit down and write. I have come to realize, I have not been getting the outlet I need, so I began sending a random thought to my friends and family each morning. I have discovered new things about myself, my friends, my family, and about life!

Starbuck: Miracle in a Cup

Monday, again...
Dropped the boys off at school this morning, got into my soccer mom mini-van, and proceeded to head to Starbucks.
There is something in your brain that will not allow you drive any other direction, except towards a Starbucks. I haven't figured it out yet. I have not had my traditional venti no whip mocha in several weeks. Between lack of time, busy mornings, and no money (except for what is in the ash tray of the van), I have not gone. But this morning, the mini-van was on auto-pilot, and I found myself in the drive thru Starbucks on Parker.
AWWW YES, venti no whip mocha coming my way! A miracle in a cup! A wonderful creation to sooth your frazzled post-weekend soul and certainly one of the reasons I will be eating Top Ramen all week!! But it was worth every swallow! And to continue my bliss, I may even pour coffee from work into my empty Starbucks cup, to get the last drops of mocha off the bottom, and to trick my mind into thinking I had Starbucks twice in one day!!
I have decided, that sometimes you have to spoil yourself, even if it means a $3.86 coffee from the local, legal-drug pushing, comfort zone, addiction creating, coffee house on the planet. Life is too short!

Kitchen Sink Sorrows

We are looking at replacing our kitchen sink and faucet. Our neighbor works at Ferguson, which is a plumbing supply store, so he can get us a deal. We went to their showroom last night, and the second we walked in, I realized that we just walked into kitchen and bathrooms for your dream home....not your HUD home.
I of course, picked out a very lovely kitchen sink. Not the fabulous one right next to it. But pretty basic, two sides, one smaller than they other and a bit shallower, it was nice. The lovely lady helping us flipped thru the BOOK to inform us that I just picked out a ceramic sink at the cost of $1400.00
I'm sorry did she say $1400.00?? No, sorry she said $1485.00, that didn't include the $500 faucet I liked. I don't pay that in my mortgage. AND from the action my sink get's, there is no way in HELL I would put a $1400 sink in my tiny tiny kitchen. We only paid $2000 for ALL of our kitchen appliances, that includes my washer and dryer.
Of course I needed to act like that was nothing. Because obviously, me in my faded capri's from Wal-Mart, wind blown hair, drooling 8 month old in my arms, and the out of control 4 year old in his worn out shorts, and my husband in his warehouse dirtied shirt, can afford that. We are actually hiding our wealth. My PRADA items were at the dry cleaners and my maid forget to get them.
SO my random thought for the day is, if you walk into a store and they have no prices on the items, you are in the wrong place, unless you are worth more than 2 nations put together....RUN
